T.: Dear friends! Today we’ll continue to dwell on the topic how to repair friendship. It is our final lesson on the mentioned theme. And you should come to the definite conclusion and be ready by the end of the lesson to express your opinion on the question under discussion in oral and writing forms. We’ll have a lot of various activities today, so I wish you to enjoy this lesson and have a lot of fun.

WARMING-UP

 a) Listen and read:

Song, “You’ve got a Friend”

Written by Carol King. Performed by James Taylor.

Verse 1

When you’re down, and troubled

And you need a helping hand

And nothing, nothing is going right

Close your eyes and think of me

And soon I will be there

To brighten up even your darkest night

Chorus:

You just call out my name

And you know wherever I am

I’ll come running

To see you again

Winter, spring, summer, or fall

All you have to do is a call

And I’ll be there

You’ve got a friend.

Verse 2

If the sky above you

Should turn dark and full of clouds

And that old North wind should begin to blow

Keep your head together

And call my name out loud

Soon you’ll hear me knocking upon your door

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3

Hey, isn’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend?

People can be so cold.

They’ll hurt you and desert you.

They’ll take your soul if you let them

Oh yeah, but don’t you let them

Repeat Chorus

b) Say:

- Do you like this song?

- Do you have a helping hand when you are down and troubled?

- Whom you consider to be the best friend in your class?

- Do you have much in common with your best friend or not?

- What do you have in common or how you are different?

- How you spent your free time when you are together?

- What you both take an interest in?

- What your friend is good at?

-  Have you quarreled with your friend? Why?

-  Is it easy to get along with him/her?

- How do you try to please each other?

- Are you always willing to do something for each other?

- What do you like in each other?

- Do you miss each other when you are apart?

- Do you consider yourself to be a good friend to other children?

SUMMING UP

      Dear boys and girls!

Today we have finished studying the theme “RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEOPLE: FRIENDSHIP”.

I hope you have realized the main principles of friendship and you’ll appreciate and cherish it in your further life because friendship is truly a priceless gift.

I guess it will be a pleasure for you to take part in the International Pupils’ Project “Repairing Friendship”, share your experience with other fellows in iEARN, and find new e-mail pen-friends there. This participation will develop your skills in technology, languages and communication with those who live in other countries. You’ll have a great opportunity to expand not only your knowledge of English and cultural differences in other countries but also your computing skills.

       Thus, good luck to you!
